GRADUATE PLACEMENT PROGRAMME: EMPOWERING THE FUTURE OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN WINE INDUSTRY

by | Sep 17, 2024 | Articles

South Africa Wine is excited to introduce the newly established Graduate Placement Programme, an initiative to connect high-calibre tertiary graduates with our member companies through 6-12-month fixed-term contracts. This programme is designed to offer graduates valuable work experience and support the long-term growth of the South African wine industry by fostering future leaders.

What does the programme offer?

The Graduate Placement Programme focuses on recruiting skilled black graduates (as defined by BEE codes) in various positions across the wine industry value chain, including viticulture, winemaking, data analytics, logistics, and export management. By connecting our members with qualified, passionate young professionals, we hope to facilitate pathways to managerial and ownership roles over time.

Kachné Ross, South Africa Wine’s People and Skills Development Manager, shares her enthusiasm, “This programme represents a strategic investment in the future of our industry. By providing talented graduates with meaningful opportunities, we are not only empowering individuals but also ensuring the sustainability and innovation of our sector.”

How it works

South Africa Wine partners with Agrijob to provide free recruitment services to our members. Agrijob will:

  • Meet with you to understand your company’s specific needs
  • Source and shortlist high-calibre graduates from universities across the country
  • Facilitate interviews and assist with offer letters and contracts

South Africa Wine will contribute R5,000 monthly to the graduate’s salary, while members are responsible for ensuring market-related remuneration and making all statutory deductions.

We encourage all our members to participate in this initiative and help build the next generation of wine industry leaders. To express your interest, simply contact Kachné Ross at kachne@sawine.co.za or 021 276 0450.
