We’re the voice of the wine industry regarding the big decisions that affect this industry. Our Industry Affairs team works hard to make sure the government understands what matters to wine producers and businesses across the value chain in South Africa. Whether it’s changes to liquor laws, excise taxes, or fighting illegal trade, we’re in those meetings to protect our industry’s interests. We work closely with national, provincial and local government departments – especially in agriculture and trade – to keep the conversation going and get results. We also make sure the wine industry is always in the loop. When important decisions are made, we inform our industry on what’s happening and how it might affect their business.

At the same time, we drive smart decision-making through data, working closely with SAWIS (South African Wine Industry Information & Services) to turn industry data into valuable insights. SAWIS collects and processes the numbers that matter, administers our Wine of Origin system, and helps us all understand what’s really happening in our industry. Meanwhile, Vinpro brings technical expertise and production insights from its network of 2 600 wine producers and cellars. Together, we’re building a picture of where our industry is heading and what opportunities lie ahead.
