The Industry Transformation Advisory manager guides wineries, wine grape producers, consultants, banks, and the government on best practices in diversity and inclusion under the following themes:
- Enterprise ownership expansion to diverse shareholders
- Skills development
- Enterprise development
- Inclusive procurement practices
- Socioeconomic development
Advice is aligned with industry audit standards, including the Agri BEE Codes of Good Practice and sustainability conventions.

Fundraising
- Referrals of business cases to funders and banks.
- Business structuring, business plan writing, funding regulations, monitoring and evaluation requirements, and fundraising strategies.
- Implementing projects funded by the government or other sources, such as managing committees that approve and oversee funding.
- Conducting due diligence for banks, the government, and the industry on a project-by-project basis.
BEE Compliance
- Structuring business deals, advocating for effective government measurement tools, and mitigating risks such as fronting.
- Improving BEE scores for South African wine industry members, explaining the BEE compliance process, commenting on policies, and helping to formulate new policies.
- Understanding the wine industry context of ownership, enterprise and supplier development, skills development, management control, and socioeconomic development.
Reporting
- Ensuring monitoring and evaluation conventions are followed correctly.
- Writing reports to demonstrate the progress of transformation initiatives.
Ethical Trade
- Serving in various capacities to promote and influence the measurement of ethical compliance.
New Enterprise Advisory
- Advising new businesses and routes to market, helping new entrants understand what has and hasn’t worked in the wine and wine grape industry.
Sustainability
- Recognising that BEE is a chapter in the sustainability landscape, with South Africa Wine placing sustainability at the heart of all its activities.
